The International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers (HFIAW or Insulators Union) is a trade union in the U.S. and Canada. The Insulators Labor Management and Cooperative Trust is a partnership between the Insulators Union and their signatory contractors, who employ the union’s members in the Mechanical Insulation and Firestopping industries.
What does the Insulators Union do?
The primary focus of the Insulators Union is to assist its membership in securing employment, defending their rights and advancing their interests as working men and women. Through education and cooperation, the union strives to raise its members to a position in society where they can live comfortably.
Members of the Insulators Union, who have achieved journeyman status in the union through a registered apprenticeship that consists of a multi-year classroom and a 1,600-hour-per-year on-the-job training program, are equipped to properly install Mechanical Insulation and Firestopping.
The Insulators Union is affiliated with the AFL-CIO and the Canadian Labour Congress and represents nearly 23,000 craftsmen in various Mechanical Insulation-related crafts.
