The Fastest-Growing Jobs For Women Is In Construction Per New Study

October 16, 2020

A new study revealed more women are choosing to enter the construction industry.

According to Smart Asset, women flocked to the construction industry between 2015 and 2019.

During this five-year period, more women decided to work in construction than in any other industry.

Amongst the fastest growing jobs for women in the construction industry is construction managers.

Between 2015 and 2019, the number of female construction managers grew by roughly 50,000 or 101 percent. It outpaced the overall growth of the occupation by roughly 66 percentage points. During this time, the overall occupation’s employment increase was approximately 35 percent.

Additionally, more women joined the trades as well, with two trades seeing an increase of 64 and 50 percent growth, respectively.

The Mechanical Insulators LMCT strongly urges and supports efforts to grow the number of females in the construction industry, especially in the mechanical insulation industry as Insulators and business owners.

Over the past five years, our signatory contractors and our Unions have witnessed an increase in the number of women within our ranks.

We are proud of the progress the mechanical industry has made to recruit women into the trade, but are working to do more.

The Mechanical Insulators LMCT is dedicated to a diverse workforce and signatory contractors, who represent the dynamics of the communities in which they live and work.
